The Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) strongly condemned on Tuesday the Israeli bombing of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) headquarters in Tehran, which occurred this Monday during a live broadcast, killing three media workers and injuring several others.
In a statement, the Cuban organization described the attack as "a new chapter of Zionist aggression" against the press and the Iranian people, carried out with U.S. support.
UPEC highlighted the bravery of Iranian journalists, symbolized by director Peyman Jebeli holding up a blood-stained newspaper while reaffirming the continuity of broadcasts. The statement also endorsed reports from the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), which have documented the killing of 184 journalists in Gaza and now this direct attack on media facilities.
"Israel seeks to silence witnesses of its crimes," UPEC stated, also denouncing censorship on digital platforms and the complicity of some international media outlets. (Source: ACN)
