The personal exhibition " Conociéndome a mí mismo " (Knowing myself), by the artist Alfonso Tamayo Demetry, was opened on Thursday as part of the activities for the 28th Ibero-American Culture Festival taking place in the province of Holguín.
"Padrinos del arte", "Cuarto Rojo" and “Autorretrato " are some of the 15 works in ink and acrylic on cardboard that were exhibited in the small hall of the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts.
With a personal touch, the exhibit invites the public to know the artist through pieces that shape a new understanding of an inner world where the artist himself is the true protagonist.
The exhibition includes some finished pieces and others in progress, while the public had the opportunity to witness the making of one of them in the exhibition hall itself, since the artist's objective is to increase the number of works due to the large number of ideas he wants to reflect on the canvas.
"It was time to think about myself, see who I am and what I have done with my life," Alfonso Tamayo told the digital newspaper ¡ahora!
He explained that he seeks to break with the traditional and that the exhibition is a kind of personal therapy in which he reflects some details of his life with the intention that the public interprets them from his point of view.
The space was conducive to launching the call for the Ibero-American Visual Arts Show with the aim of bringing together plastic artists from Cuba and the world in the same project; it will run until August 1, 2023.
