The 36th City Hall, organized by the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts as part of the activities for the Holguín Culture Week, was inaugurated on January 18 with more than 40 visual works, in the presence of the Vice Minister of Culture, Fernando Rojas.
In her opening speech, the plastic artist Annia Leyva said that the exhibition shows the work of the creators who are still committed to their work and, from within, continue determined not to give up their need to say more through art.
The exhibit includes the works of young artists recently graduated from the ALBA Academy of Plastic Arts and others with a consecrated work, among them: Aníbal de la Torre and his “Diloggún con Iré”, Juan Carlos Anzardo with “Objeto 10”, Harold Peña Fernández and “L.H.O.O.Q”, and Marlén Besil García, with “El renacer del fénix”.
Oil and acrylic paintings, engravings, sculptures, digital and body art, drawing, ceramics, video art, collagraphy and unraveling are some of the techniques used by the artists in their works.
One of the exponents, Juan Carlos Anzardo, commented on the proposed piece: "I am a great lover of modern art and I am always looking for new ways to create, "Object 10" is part of a series I made on material informalism, which I started developing it during confinement”.
The jury, made up of the plastic artists Víctor Echenagusia Bastida, Rubén Hechevarría Salvia and Yasit Sánchez Díaz, must select the best technically and conceptually executed works, a decision that will be known at the closing ceremony of the event.
