Holguín winner in Latin American lyrical singing contest

The Holguín soprano Senia López Camejo, from the Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theater, received the Extraordinary Dempsey Rivera Award at the XI Latin American Lyric Singing Contest Radio Filarmónica 2023, held in the city of Lima, in Peru.

Graduated from the Holguín branch of the University of the Arts, the artist performed in the first round of the grand final, Pamina's aria, “Ach, ich fühl's", from the opera "The Magic Flute", by the Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, while in the second round she was applauded for "Ah, fors' è lui... Semper libera", from La Traviatta, by the Italian Giuseppe Verdi, both accompanied by the pianist Vivian Rigol.

López Camejo, in exclusive statements from Lima to the Cuban News Agency, expressed her gratitude after the important award, as she managed to represent her country in a renowned competition and increase professional opportunities at international level.

Also a member of the Bella Voice group, López Camejo performed at the Manuel Ascencio Segura Theater in the Peruvian capital before a prestigious jury made up of general and artistic directors from various countries and participated along with ten other finalists from Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica and Peru.

The award grants the right to participate directly in the semifinal phase of the María Callas Singing Competition, which will be held in the Brazilian city of Sao Paolo next year, together with the sopranos Ana Mercado, from Peru, and Pilar garrido, from Chile, and the tenor Noé Moreno, from Mexico.
