Holguín launches campaign to promote reading in the elderly

The "Manuel Dositeo Aguilera Ochoa" House of Culture in Holguín recently announced the launch of the campaign to promote reading in the elderly "Reading rejuvenates", which it will be carry out in collaboration with several institutions in the eastern city.
This campaign will begin on October 1, coinciding with Senior Citizens' Day, with a discussion group at the headquarters of the Holguín publishing house, with the participation of Joaquín Osorio, National Prize for the Promotion of Reading; Fidel Fidalgo, writer and editor and Angélica Almaguer, literature instructor.
The initiative aims to highlight the way in which reading can help keep the mind active and improve the quality of life at this stage.
Joselín Pupo, organizer of the campaign, commented that it is not about creating a habit, but rather awareness. “We intend to focus on this group of readers with their particular characteristics. We also want to emphasize the benefits of reading as an instrument of spiritual healing".
The organizers invite the entire community to participate in this enriching experience that celebrates reading and its revitalizing power.
