An approach to culture and patrimonial values will be offered by the 6th edition of the Spring Verbenas and the 1st Workshop on Early History and Archeology of Cuba and the Caribbean, to be held in the Holguín site of Güirabito on April 5 and 6, in this eastern Cuban region.
Both events, organized by the provincial branch of the Cuban Association of Historians (UNHIC by its Spanish acronym) and its Yayal grassroots section, along with the Pedro Rogena Camayd Credit and Services Cooperative, will take place in the territory of Indo-Hispanic interaction that gave birth to the current Cuban City of Parks.
The Spring Verbenas, which promotes the development of cultural traditions linked to the conservation of the archaeological site Yayal, Local Monument of the Republic of Cuba, with annual frequency, are the festive face of the community project Simiente de Holguín, aimed at pondering the patrimonial values of the place.
Hiram Perez Concepcion, president of the UNHIC said that this festival is an example of everything that can be done for the identity of localities to strengthen unity among people, love and respect for the place where they live, and highlight the role of children and popular participation.
On this occasion, the festivities will be accompanied by the 1st Workshop on Early History and Archeology of Cuba and the Caribbean, which will bring together a group of scientists and researchers from different parts of the country.
The festival calls for the enjoyment of the manifestations of art and Creole tradition, but the workshop aims to grow with its inhabitants and achieve its permanence in it from the efforts of all those who believe in the need to protect the heritage as a song of the future, he concluded.
