With the world premiere of "Sentimientos. Odisea de la mente," in collaboration with Austrian choreographer Mike Loewenrosen, the Holguín dance company Codanza returns to stages on April 25, 26, and 27.
Vianki González Miranda, its director, told ACN that the work is a representation of various emotional levels, achieved through images where the dancers show different worlds and emotions, structured in solos, pas de deux, pas de trois, and ensembles.
The feelings are not expressed through a kind of story, but are shown by the dancers, and in this way, the audience is not distracted and can become aware of their own emotions, she noted.
González Miranda highlighted the presence of modern musical compositions within the piece, which will offer the audience a new experience through a contemporary dance language.
Mike Loewenrosen told ACN that the dance style featured in the show is born from a blend of neoclassical and contemporary styles, seeking to bring feelings like love, trust, and hate to the stage in a unique way.
González thanked the opportunity of bringing a choreographer like Loewenrosen, who has excelled in teaching and dancing in theaters throughout North and South America, the Caribbean and Europe, to Holguín to show the versatility of contemporary dance in Cuba.
The Codanza company, considered one of the best in the country, was founded in September 1992 and since then has won several awards and performed on various stages in Cuba and around the world, as well as collaborated with writers and internationally renowned figures.
