Pediatric Hospital in Holguín receives a donation of books

The Journalism College of the University of Holguín made a donation of books to the Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja Pediatric Hospital, with the aim of creating a children's library, as part of the Enchanted Forest of Books project.
"Dr. Aracelis Hernández García, committed to the educational well-being of hospitalized children, dreamed of a space that would give them the opportunity to explore imaginary worlds and cultivate a love of reading, and we decided to make it a reality,” said Isabel Hechavarría Hernández, one of the students who led the initiative.
In that sense, she expressed, on behalf of her colleagues, everyone's gratitude for the unconditional support of those who donated books, the professors of the program, the Hermanos Saíz Association and the Holguín journalists' union, whose joint efforts made it possible to compile 679 copies, which will give life to the long-awaited library.
The university college plans to keep the library active and among its projections is the organization of reading activities, storytelling workshops and special events, in which children and their families are involved to guarantee recreation and learning.
