Topics related to the therapeutic modalities of Natural and Traditional Medicine (MNT) approved in Cuba and research developed to contribute to raising the quality of life of the population, occupied the attention of professionals attending the IX Scientific Conference of the Chapter of Bioenergetic and Natural Medicine, held on Wednesday in the city of Holguín.
Dr. C. Mayelín Cruz Batista, president of the chapter of Bioenergetic and Natural Medicine in Holguín, highlighted in the meeting the participation of doctors, medical residents, professors of the specialty and students, as part of the comprehensive training of health professionals.
Dr. Cruz Batista pointed out that this exchange aims to facilitate professionals to show their research aimed at improving the quality of life of the population and health indicators in the complex times we live in, when it is necessary to look for therapeutic alternatives due to the scarcity of existing resources in the sector, aggravated by the intensification of the United States blockade against Cuba.
Thus, all the works presented respond to health problems in the territory, as part of the morbidity registered in the province, considering that the practice of MNT contributes to its control or solution.
The topics are related to acupuncture and related techniques in the treatment of chronic and non-communicable diseases, mostly related to the most common in the elderly, from the aging population of the province, where more than 24 percent of its inhabitants are over 60 years of age.
The training of human resources in MNT is a constant; there are now 10 residents in this specialty, who were present at the conference with the results of their research, related to morbidities in hospitals and Primary Health Care (PHC), where they work.
