The Vladimir Ilich Lenin University Teaching Hospital in the province of Holguín applies artificial intelligence (AI) in the governance processes of that institution, as part of the programs to improve the quality of care to the population.
Jose Leandro Perez Guerrero, cardiologist and promoter of the alternative, told the Cuban News Agency that the tool helps improve administrative decision-making and manage the availability of disposable and non-expendable materials.
In addition, these platforms make it possible to schedule admissions, medical appointments and the follow-up of vulnerable cases through technological platforms for data analysis that shorten waiting times, he stated.
He emphasized that, although during the COVID-19 pandemic, technologies were used to reduce the flow of people in healthcare centers, training continues to be provided to professionals and managers on the relevance of using these innovations.
Cybersecurity in healthcare data is also taken into account, making it possible to stagger care and implement established protocols, since they are an aid and in no way replace the work of doctors, technicians and nurses.
The use of AI is one of the postulates of the government management system based on science and technological innovation, which is implemented in Cuba with the aim of contributing to social development through the adaptation of local resources. (Source: ACN)
