A new data tabulation program is being implemented by the General Health Directorate of the eastern province of Holguin, aimed at analyzing figures related to the incidence of tuberculosis in the region.
Dunia Salazar Fernandez, creator of the project, said that it is a registry focused on collecting information on the disease, supported by a Microsoft Access database.
Among the advantages it offers are an annual summary of the disease's behavior and real-time comparisons, which summarize the main monitoring parameters for health authorities, the specialist noted.
She indicated that the reports include the patient's age, sex, the main vulnerable groups, positivity by municipality, and other required epidemiological records.
The expert emphasized that the management system contributes directly to the processing of results from the Xpert method, a molecular test aimed at detecting the disease quickly and accurately.
Although historically only isolated cases of tuberculosis have been reported in the territory, monitoring of this disease and health promotion are maintained to influence its prevention through primary and secondary health care. (Source: ACN)
