Holguín hospital holds Pediatrics event

The Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja Hospital in Holguín is carrying out the “An April for Pediatrics” campaign, an initiative aimed at highlighting the work of this medical specialty and strengthening its impact on the community.
According to specialist Melvis Calderón Hermida, the activities include joint visits and vocational training for students and young people, supported by the experience of retired professionals, which helps pass on knowledge and values within the sector.
The hospital is also conducting training sessions for primary health care, with an emphasis on continuous patient care after discharge, thereby strengthening community-based follow-up.
The initiative also promotes quality in pediatric nursing, care for complex chronic patients, and the revival of exclusive breastfeeding, along with activities such as discussions, scientific research, and intergenerational meetings to improve comprehensive child care.
