Cuba is among the first 19 countries in the world with the lowest infant mortality rate with 4.0 for every one thousand live births in 2017. This is the 10th consecutive year that the infant mortality has been under five, reported during the opening of the 28th Cuban Pediatrician Congress.

Holguin is among the Cuban provinces with the largest number of coordinated and not coordinated protocols assumed by the National Center for Clinical Trials (CENCEC), with a stable and functional structure, as well as for its informative discipline.

The Territorial Center of Assisted Reproduction of Holguín will work to achieve more than 50 percent effectiveness this year, which would help to increase the number of births in the eastern province, where the birth rate is 10.1 per thousand inhabitants of the general population, lower than that of 2016.

In 2017, the infant mortality rate ended with 4% per thousand live births in our country, the best in our history, according to what was said by Roberto Álvarez Fumero, head of the Maternal and Child Department of the Ministry of Public Health.
