The execution of the Mobile Telephony, Wifi and Nauta Hogar services in Holguín progressed with relevant results at the end of the year, expanding through these channels most of the services in the different municipalities and improving the congestion areas in the network.

Darkiris Sánchez, head of the Commercial Department of the Territorial Division of this branch, said to the ACN news agency that it has been a technological challenge to computerize most of the Popular Councils in Holguín, giving priority to 14 social programs of the health and education sectors.

The connectivity projects extended during the year included than 160 new services in companies, where the connection speed through fiber optics increased, while expanding Internet access in rural communities of the Holguín’s Turquino Plan, such as La Melba, in Moa, and Guamuta, in Cueto.

During the year, more than 50 2G, 3G and 4G radio bases were installed, thus expanding the nodes of this last modality to several head municipalities, which allows greater data transmission and the concurrence of more users through the same station, including Moa, Antilla, Banes, Mayarí, Cueto and Rafael Freyre, he added.

Sánchez explained that in the province more than 58 thousand SIM cards were exchanged for USIM cards to have the benefits of 4G, while most of the existing radio bases were modernized.

He also highlighted that more than 1,500 new homes were connected through the Nauta Hogar service, increasing this modality during the months of greatest impact of COVID-19 in the eastern territory, especially when the Company lowered the collection rates with the facilities of extension of navigation hours.

The Wi-Fi points, he added, also expanded their presence in various public areas in the province, completing 132 sites, arranged in hotel navigation rooms, the Young Computer and Informatics Club, Medical and Mail Services.

In the remainder of the year and at the beginning of 2021, ETECSA's pending investments will continue, fully exploiting the entire network and engineering reserves to cover the marketing capacities demanded by users in the eastern territory, the specialist added.
