Food production and the strengthening of community activities that contribute to the fight against COVID-19, are among the actions developed in 2020 by the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) in Holguín.

Among the products destined for hospitals, maternity homes and other health assistance and isolation centers due to the pandemic, are vegetables, viands, grains, milk and meat, deliveries made by farmers as voluntary contributions for the benefit of patients admitted to different hospitals in the province.

Osmani Morales, member of the Provincial Bureau of this organization, said that in support of this initiative, producers continue to expand the preparation of land from a greater use of animal traction to also contribute to saving fuel in the preparation of the fields with a view to new crops.

For the current harvest season it is expected to continue the delivery of various agricultural productions, including short-cycle crops such as beans, pumpkin, corn, sweet potato, cucumber, okra and other vegetables, also included in the farmers' sale plan to the State, Morales said.

He noted that the land fund is being used to the maximum to continue applying science and technology in favor of the field and its potential, saving available resources and advancing in territorial self-sufficiency and diversification of productions.
