Holguín celebrates World Ozone Layer Protection Day

The province of Holguín develops a plan of activities to mark the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, which is celebrated on September 16.
The delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, Citma in the territory has been the governing body of these activities that involve various sectors.
Regarding the actions carried out in this eastern territory, Norkis Ochoa Aguilera, head of the Department of Environmental Policy Instrument in the Citma delegation, commented: “We have designed a plan of activities which involve various entities and the population, we have held meetings with children from the community supported by the managing board of the Saratoga hotel in this city.”
Thanks to the efforts of organizations and entities, Holguín is listed as one of the outstanding territories in the protection of the ozone layer, for which it has been recognized on several occasions, but it is not compliance for those who work for the care of the environment.
The depletion of the ozone layer prompted the international community to establish a cooperation mechanism in order to adopt measures to protect it.
For this reason, in September 1987, the Montreal Protocol was published to control the production and consumption of substances that deplete the ozone layer. (Source: Radio Angulo)
