Young Communist League in Holguín calls for massive blood donations

The Union of Young Communists (UJC) in Holguín together with other organizations in the eastern territory call for a large voluntary blood donation next Thursday in the morning.
The oncology ward of the Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja Pediatric Hospital in in this city is reporting several children in critical condition due to a lack of platelets. Some require transfusions every 12 hours, while others need up to 3 daily.
Diana Rosa Brea Veliz, an official of the municipal committee of the UJC commented: "This exercise is always necessary as an altruistic act of love for our loved ones, for young people it is vitally important to turn to donations, it is our contribution as citizens, we are aware that we do not need a specific situation to do so."
The Holguín Provincial Blood Bank has all the resources available such as bags, staff, equipment, but it cannot produce blood, nor is it a resource that can be bought in the markets, hence the need to donate to save lives.
