The company Tauba Holmotor S.U.R.L., one of the state-owned MSMEs in the province of Holguín, will manufacture motors for electric tricycles in Cuba for the first time, which will allow linkages with other national industries.
Based on an already approved prototype, it will facilitate the assembly of these means on the Caribbean island and will increase the availability and potential for passenger transportation in urban areas, Iván Pego Ramírez, a specialist from that entity, told ACN.
He said that the components intended to generalize this model are available in the factory, located in the municipality of Cacocum and will be presented to national and foreign exhibitors participating in the Renewable Energy and Havana International fairs, to be held this September and next November, respectively.
The engine meets the established power and quality standards and contributes to import substitution programs, the use of installed capacity and the recycling of raw materials such as aluminum, he noted.
He added that the industry, equipped with Chinese technology, is included in food sovereignty programs and the confrontation with the effects of climate change through the manufacture of pumping equipment included in irrigation systems, intended to promote food production in difficult to access areas.
It is also inserted in the management of science and the linkage with the sectors of Agriculture and Hydraulic Resources with the objective of expanding the economic development of the eastern territory, the third most densely populated in the largest of the Antilles.
Holguín has more than 400 MSMEs among its new economic actors, of which three are state-owned and Tauba Holmotor is the only one directly linked to production and social projects such as the advancement of women and care for young people. (Source: ACN)
