A project for the manufacture of 500 electric pumps for water supply is being developed in Holguín by the Delegation of Hydraulic Resources and the state MSME Tauba Holmotor, with the aim of reducing the water supply by cistern trucks and improving the quality of life of the population.
These implements designed for low flow will benefit mainly multi-family buildings and small communities located in difficult to access areas which currently receive service through cistern trucks and where it is possible to dig a well.
Iván Pego Ramírez, member of the Directive Board at Tauba Holmotor, told ACN that the productive chain between both entities has allowed the import of the components used in the manufacture of the electric pumps.
As part of the testing phase, a device is installed in a rural community of 60 homes located in the municipality of Cacocum, a viable solution aimed at improving accessibility to water with high quality standards.
Likewise, Juan Mario Echavarría Hernández, territorial delegate of Hydraulic Resources, pointed out that feasibility studies are also being carried out to incorporate new clients into the aqueduct and sewage systems.
He stressed that in parallel, the program to change the energy matrix planned for vulnerable and difficult-to-access settlements is advancing in 11 of the 14 municipalities, since the installation of solar panels for their optimal functioning.
In Holguín, water quality and the repair or replacement of parts and pieces of conductors are also prioritized to reduce water supply cycles, which in some locations exceed 20 days. (Source: ACN)
