During a recent visit, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de La O Levy, evaluated the construction progress of the photovoltaic park in Corúa Cinco, in the Holguín municipality of Mayarí, after investors and builders faced delays caused by more than three months of rain in the area.
According to a publication by the Mayarí Government portal, in his tour of the área O Levy confirmed the commitment to complete the photovoltaic park on March 28 this year and described the work as a gigantic effort as part of Cuba's strategy of changing its energy matrix.
In coversation with Alexander Vázquez Obregón, technical head of the photovoltaic park works, the minister was concerned about the workforces and resource guarantees.
Accompanied by the highest political and government authorities of Mayarí, the Minister of Energy and Mines checked the progress of the evaluation work in unit one of the Lidio Ramón Pérez thermoelectric plant, in Felton.
Eric Milanés Quinzán, general director of the industry, assured that they are in the process of reducing the temperature to be able to carry out technical tasks on the generator and they plan to stop the spinner this Monday, a fact that will make it easier to open the casing and carry out investigations to determine the location of the breakdown.
Given the complexity of the actions, only after verifying the damaged area will it be possible to provide details of the expected time for the repair.
Vicente de La O Levy said that the country is going through a very complex moment, not only because of the few thermal units that are in operation, but also because of their technical conditions and the lack of fuel for distributed generation.
