Hydraulic project benefits vulnerable neighborhoods in Holguín

The increase in connections to hydraulic networks is one of the strategies developed in the province of Holguín to serve vulnerable neighborhoods, one of the government programs prioritized in this eastern territory.
This proposal benefits rural areas with difficult access and the Turquino Plan with the improvement of the health conditions and quality of life of the residents in these population settlements, Juan Mario Echavarría Hernández, delegate of Hydraulic Resources, told ACN.
He pointed out that work is being done to find solutions for the evacuation of waste, including the completion of a simplified sewer on 14th Street, in the Pueblo Nuevo district of the main city.
Echavarría explained that despite the difficulties with the supply of fuel and spare parts for cars, these settlements are prioritized in the programs for clearing and eliminating flood zones.
In parallel, the manager said, the supply of water in cistern tanks is reduced and the identification of own supply sources such as wells continues to increase service possibilities and reduce cycles, which exceed 70 days.
In 2024, this project benefited more than seven thousand inhabitants in five of these neighborhoods and feasibility studies are being carried out focused on continuing to increase these figures, while investments are carried out for the rehabilitation and maintenance of conductors and network execution.
