The National Workshop on the results of the Project ¡Actúa Diferente!, promoted by the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica), began in Holguín with the participation of producers from the eastern provinces of Cuba where the project is implemented.

The initiative aims to achieve food sovereignty in Cuba by leveraging local potential and improving the social and economic life of the involved territories.

After five years, the project has strengthened the nutrition of vulnerable groups, promoted resilience against natural disasters, and enhanced the productive capacity of cooperatives, farms, and community centers by providing inputs to supply social protection networks with nearly 186 tons of fresh products.

Beneficiaries include schools, childcare centers, maternity homes, and senior centers in municipalities across Las Tunas, Granma, Holguín, Guantánamo, and Santiago de Cuba.

The support helped overcome damage from natural disasters, promote gender inclusion in agriculture, and provide training in nutritional education and resilient agroecological techniques.

During the workshop, which runs until June 26, participants will share experiences, discuss goals for the second phase of the project, and visit involved entities in the northeastern región. (Source: ACN)
