Juan Mario Echavarria Hernandez, sector delegate, told the Cuban News Agency that the pumps are located in the towns of Damian and La Rioja, located in the municipalities of Holguin and Cacocum, respectively.
He emphasized that the systems benefit 85,000 residents in areas traditionally affected by drought and prolonged periods without service through the water and sewer networks.
The delegate specified that the pumps are being installed in vulnerable areas with the goal of improving accessibility to the vital liquid in those areas, prioritized by government projects.
Echavarria Hernandez pointed out that, with these actions in the sector, 11 of the 14 municipalities in the province, among the most populated in Cuba, benefit from the use of clean energy.
Despite the limitations imposed by the United States economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba on the acquisition of pumps and other supplies, there are several agreements with mechanical companies aimed at recovering parts and components essential for the operation of the equipment.
