Construction and cleaning efforts continue in Holguín as part of the recovery phase actions to reverse the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa to economic, social, and private infrastructures.
The province reported over 432,000 damages, including more than four hundred total collapses and over seven thousand partial destructions; meanwhile, more than 1,200 health institutions remain in service.

Rodolfo Barzaga Mena, head of the Construction subgroup, stated that brigades are working across various areas to ensure timely recovery, carrying out debris removal, managing materials for infrastructure rehabilitation, and building protective structures.
He reported that more than six thousand homes were affected and that roofing materials are being obtained from neighboring provinces such as Santiago de Cuba and Las Tunas, around 10,000 asbestos and zinc tiles for partial collapses.

The damage has been reported in all 14 municipalities, with resources distributed fairly, prioritizing the hardest-hit areas like health and educational centers.
Five thousand asphalt tiles were assigned to total collapses, and each municipality is responsible for prioritizing resources focused on its most urgent needs, Barzaga added.
He affirmed that assessments continue as a key task, in coordination with the Housing and Finance and Prices departments, to verify paperwork and documentation for affected residents to enable their eventual restoration.
