Banes and Antilla Defense Councils extend sanitary measures

The Defense Councils in the Holguín municipalities of Antilla and Banes have expanded hygienic-sanitary actions in recent days as part of the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 after the report of a positive patient who has already died from the new coronavirus Sars-Cov2.

Katia Ochoa, Director of Health in Holguín, said in meeting with the Provincial Defense Council this Monday that both in Antilla and Banes, population studies are being carried out in order to detect in the shortest time possible the greatest number of contacts with the deceased patient, including the area of residence, work center and health centers where he was hospitalized.

Faced with the urgency of knowing the contagion base to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in these two Holguín municipalities, the Defense Councils at those levels have strengthened the measures contained in the Health protocols, which also include the disinfection of streets , work centers and means of transport through the use of hypochlorite in all areas under protection in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, which in the province of Holguín has registered three positive cases from the 12th of August to date.

Yamilé Carrera and Yuviesque Valentín, presidents of the Defense Councils of the municipalities of Banes and Antilla, respectively, explained through videoconferences that in the areas of possible COVID-19 infections after the case of the deceased by the pandemic, measures to contain the spread of the disease are strengthened in both territories, located about 80 kilometers from the city of Holguín.

For his part, Ernesto Santiesteban Velazquez, president of the Provincial Defense Council, insisted on the need to comply with the protection measures against the threat of the spread of the new coronavirus in the eastern territory, where in recent days three new positive cases have been reported.
