The prolonged and cyclical droughts that affect Cuba require the appropriate use of water. After a period of abundant rain, dryness begins to be noticed, mainly in land dedicated to agricultural production and animal grazing. 
A program to reduce the vulnerability of rural communities in the province of Holguin to the effects of climate change will be implemented from 2018 in this eastern territory, as part of the Tarea Vida project. 
The academic debate around the historical dissonances of the Hato San Isidoro de Holguin stood out among the activities of the 17th Workshop La Ciudad que queremos, on occasion of the 473 anniversary of the foundation of this eastern Cuban city. 
The establishment of the Hato of San Isidoro de Holguin, 473 years ago, is celebrated here with a wide program of activities coinciding with the 57 and the 56 anniversaries of the Jose Marti Pioneers Organization (OPJM) and the Young Communist League (UJC) respectively.
