Martínez dominated the triple jump of 17.30 meters, the best of his outdoor career, defeatining Olympic champion Pedro Pablo Pichardo, who placed second, with 17.18 meters, his best result of the season, as well.
Yaimé Pérez, Tokyo-2020 bronze medalist in the discus, made her best throw this year, 64.45 meters, enough to surpass Brazilian Izabela da Silva, who ultimately placed second with 63 .04 meters.
In the 400 meters, no one was faster than Roxana Gómez, winner with a time of 51.72 seconds, far from her personal best of 49.71 seconds, but enough to leave the United Kingdom’s Lina Nielsen (52.72) with the silver medal and French runner Amandine Brossier (52.91) with the bronze.
Cuba’s presence was also felt in the 100 meter hurdles, with Greisys Robles and Keily Pérez, finishing fifth and seventh respectively, recording times of 13.20 seconds and 13.41, in a race dominated by Tonea Marshall, with 12.96 seconds.
