Cuban boxing is putting the final touches to its preparation for the three competitions scheduled to take place in March: Champions’ Night on the 7th, the Women's World Championship from the 8th to the 16th, and the Challengers Match on the 21st and 22nd.

Moscow will host the first one, in which Cuba’s Ronniel Iglesias (71 kg) will face the Russian Yury Osipov in a six-round bout, whereas Serbia will see the debut of Cuban women boxers Melani Giraldo (57 kg), Dayira Mesa (75 kg) and Yoana Rodriguez (81 kg) in the World Championship.

Champions’ Night was initially scheduled to be held on January 31 in Havana, but the International Boxing Association (IBA) decided unexpectedly to organize it in Russia.

As to the Havana Challengers Match, the main attractions will be two-time Olympic champion Julio César La Cruz (92 kg), Fernando Arzola (+92 kg), and Alejandro Claro (51 kg), world bronze medalist, who will step into the ring on the closing day. (Source: ACN)
