The prominent Holguín badminton player, Taymara Oropesa, leads the Cuban delegation participating in the Sucre International Tournament in Bolivia, a Future Series event awarding 1700 points for qualification to the upcoming Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.

The delegation also includes Roberto Carlos Herrera, the country's leading figure in the men's category, and juniors Leyanis Contreras and Juan Carlos Bencomo, accompanied by coach Humberto Daudinot.

Taymara, a Pan American medalist at Santiago de Chile 2023 and the first Cuban woman to reach the podium in badminton at those Games, will compete in singles with local Vanesa Panigua Palma, while in the women's doubles, she and Contreras will face Dara Flores and Araceli Liceras of Bolivia. In the mixed doubles, her opponents will be Gabriel Rosales and Juanita Siviora of the host country.

She has already gained experience in Future Series tournaments this year, reaching the doubles semifinals and achieving strong results in national and international events.

Her recent achievements include reaching the singles quarterfinals at the 23rd Giraldilla Tournament in Havana, winning the women's doubles, and placing third in mixed doubles.
