Sports schools in Holguín ensure hygienic measures to conclude 2019-20 school year

The sports schools in the province of Holguín have the necessary conditions to conclude the 2019-2020 school year, guaranteeing hygiene and health for both teachers and students in the current epidemiological situation due to the new SARS CoV-2 coronavirus.
Nelson Adrián Morales Pérez, director of the sector in the eastern territory, told the ACN that the hygienic-sanitary measures established in the country are also adopted in educational sports institutions, which have previous experience in confronting the pandemic, as they functioned as isolation centers in recent months.
Once the care of isolated personnel was completed, each center complied with the established disinfection protocol in order to reincorporate them to the training of children and young people interested in sports, he explained.
Conditions for physical distancing among students were created in the dormitories, classrooms and training areas for the restart of the school year on September 1, said Morales.
For this school stage, new educational technologies are available after the installation of 22 computers, which alleviates one of the limitations in the sports education system. Also, a large part of the logistics and school materials have been guaranteed, including uniforms for the next school year, he added.
Currently, around 1,170 students from the Pedro Díaz Coello Sports School (EIDE) and the Manuel Fajardo Physical Education Teachers (EPEF) are in the culmination phase of the current school period, with the purpose of starting in October the 2020-2021 school year.
This education system in the province includes three teaching programs through regular education that ranges from fourth to twelfth grade at the EIDE, the Pedagogical School of Sports Training and the Faculty of Physical Culture attached to the University of Holguín.
