For the Holguin pitcher Rafael Sanchez Thooppe the purposes and dreams begin to materialize early in time. At only 19 years of age, he is already a member of the National Preselection and has been included in the list of players, Amateur category, released by the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) to be hired by a Major League Baseball (MLB) team.

 

The Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB by its Spanish acronym) announced a list of 34 players under the category of amateurs, so that they can sign contracts with Major League Baseball (MLB) clubs, according to the historic agreement reached last year by both parties.

 

Yurisleidis Lupetey Cobas, one of the all-time star of Cuban judo, arrived to Holguin on the occasion of the International Book Fair to participate in the presentation of the book La única Lupe del tatami cubano (The only Lupe of the Cuban tatami).

 

The Cuban preselection with a view to the 18th Pan American Games of Lima 2019 next summer, includes more than 40 Holguin athletes in 16 disciplines.
