Cuba Recycles Campaign Promotes Environmental Awareness in Holguin

Armando Molina Pupo, director of the Holguin Raw Materials Recovery Company (ERMP). Announced at a press conference that the campaign will run for a year, until March 18th, 2027. In commemoration of World Recycling Day. The campaign involves activities with various organizations and institutions in the province.
The initiative aims to raise community awareness about the economic, environmental, and social benefits. Of replacing the dumping of recyclable waste with sorting, storage, and delivery to the company’s collection points.
Molina Pupo highlighted the role of reassigned workers in identifying private businesses and state-run centers that generate waste. These businesses are responsible for establishing systematic collection agreements. Which expands the portfolio of raw material suppliers.
The project coordinates the creation of new collection points in communities to shorten distances for residents. Including those responsible for purchasing materials, social institutions, and private homes designated for storing sorted waste.
Also the director emphasized that the actions focus on removing garbage from the streets. Which fosters the proliferation of disease vectors and sources of pollution. While simultaneously reintegrating resources such as paper, cardboard, plastics, metals, glass, and others into production processes and for export.
The strategy consolidates projects with the Science and Technology Park and coordinates efforts with public organizations and institutions, the business sector, and the community. Also to maximize resource utilization and promote an inclusive and sustainable recycling culture.
Founded on November 7th, 1961, ERMP maintains its social commitment to collecting, processing, and marketing reusable waste generated by the state, private sector, and the public, giving it new value. (With information from CNA)
