The University of Holguín participated in the fourth meeting of the Training of Trainers (TOT4) program of the international InnoLabs STEM project, held in Ecuador.

This event brought together delegations from various universities to exchange experiences and strengthen innovation training

The InnoLabs project, funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program, aims to develop innovation and entrepreneurship capacities in higher education institutions in Cuba and Ecuador. It also promotes collaboration with Chambers of Commerce to link academia with the productive sector

During the meeting, representatives from institutions in Cuba, Spain, Belgium, and Ecuador shared knowledge and best practices. According to Vice-Rector Marisol Pérez Campaña, these sessions help strengthen local innovation capacities through collaborative learning

Among the participating Cuban universities are the Technological University of Havana, the University of Cienfuegos, and the University of Holguín. Since 2023, they have been working on establishing STEM laboratories that foster sustainable projects and the development of practical skills in students.

These laboratories will be equipped for training, creation, and prototype development, following a “learning by doing” approach. The project also includes postgraduate training and business participation, contributing to socioeconomic development and promoting a knowledge- and innovation-based economy.
