The Revolution Hall of La Periquera Provincial Museum hosted the opening of the 21st Ibero-American Congress of Thought, as part of the activities of the 32nd Ibero-American Culture Festival. The event, which will run until October 27, provides a space for academic exchange on ancestral cultures and their relationship to contemporary perspectives.
During his opening remarks, Ernesto Angulo Mesa, president of the Festival's organizing committee, addressed the importance of the Congress as a forum for the dialogue among researchers and scholars of culture. "The congress reminds us that culture is not only about dancing and singing, it is also about thinking," he stated, referring to the need to understand cultural roots as part of a heritage that remains present in society.

The theoretical program began with the lecture "Anthropological Expeditions in Eastern Cuba in Search of Descendants of Indigenous Peoples: 1847-2022," presented by Dr. Armando Rangel Rivero.
The opening day also included a photographic exhibition dedicated to José Manuel Guarch Delmonte, a renowned Cuban archaeologist and speleologist, who was the first director of the Casa de Iberoamérica (House of Ibero-America).
With this new edition, the Ibero-American Congress of Thought reaffirms its place within the Ibero-American Culture Festival, incorporating into the program of celebrations a space dedicated to the analysis of history, identity, and cultural expressions that connect the past with the present.
