Holguín will celebrate the 266th anniversary of the granting of the Title of City and Tenure of Office during the 36th edition of the Culture Week to take place from January 15 to 21 in this eastern city. 
The Gibara Art Museum, about 30 kilometers north of the city of Holguín, exhibits more than two thousand decorative pieces in its collections and is a heritage jewel of eastern Cuba. 
The Cuban Society of Information Sciences (SOCICT) in the province of Holguín, develops novel research on the work of the prominent librarian Juan Albanés, remembered for his contributions to culture in the first half of the nineteenth century. 
The exhibition Variedades sobre temas de Matisse (Varieties on subjects of Matisse), by the renowned painter Cosme Proenza, opened Friday at the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts of the city of Holguin with the presence of the highest authorities of the Party and the Government in the province. 
The project “Holguín, Ciudad Parque de Cuba,” carried out by the provincial delegation of the National Union of Architects and Construction Engineers (UNAICC) with the support of political authorities, government and social institutions of the territory, has contributed to improve the image of the city.
