Of the 60 patients positives (41 imported and 19 autochthonous) to COVID-19 reported in Holguín since the start of the new normal, 47 patients have been recovered so far, according to the last report issued by the Public Health Directorate in the territory, where there are 13 patients currently diagnosed with the new SARS-CoV2 coronavirus.

Dr. Rosa Estéfano said that 12 of these patients are admitted to the Fermín Valdés Domínguez military hospital along with eight from La Tunas, while the other Holguín patients remain in the El Bosque motel.

There are currently 43 suspect patients hospitalized in the eastern province, including 22 in the Lucía Íñiguez Landín surgical hospital, 12 in the Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja pediatric hospital, 7 in Villa El Cocal and 2 in the “Fermín Valdés Domínguez”.

Some 593 contacts are under surveillance by a basic health team in the community, where 22 outbreaks remain active, five of them with imported cases with autochthonous transmission, including the municipality of San Germán; Ramón Quintana community; Carretera al Valle, Ciudad Jardín, Holguín and the community of Chavaleta, in Mayarí.

In the last 15 days, Holguín has reported 16 confirmed cases, four of them autochthonous and 12 imported, for an incidence rate of 1.56 per 10,000 inhabitants.

The number of autochthonous cases indicates that travelers and family members continue to ignore the established measures once a person enters the country, which is considered a violation of the established protocol for which the person can be sanctioned.

Health authorities insist on the need to maintain isolation and strict hygiene measures by the visitors and their families at home.
