Holguín implements new measures in the face of COVID-19

After the increase in positive cases of COVID-19 in Holguín, the Provincial Temporary Group here approved a group of measures to prevent the spread of the SARS-CoV 2 coronavirus in the territory, where 39 new cases were reported in the last two weeks.
The new measures include the suspension of events that involve concentration of people and the mandatory use of the nasobuco (face mask) in all spaces.
Likewise, the Directorate of Culture will centralize the authorization of presentations by foreign artists and will postpone the celebration of the Culture week planned for these days, while the restaurants will maintain a maximum of 50 per cent of normal capacity in order to guarantee the physical distancing and will prioritize the sale of take away food.
Other measures are related to public transport, whose service will be reinforced during peak hours and with 75 percent capacity, with mandatory use of a nasobuco and limiting it from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am.
The health authorities agreed to increase the active research in schools, work centers, health centers and other vulnerable institutions; suspend visits to hospitals, establish a fixed companion for patients, reduce consultations in Primary Health Care (PHC) and hospitals by 50 percent.
They also planned to reorder the consultations in primary and secondary health care systems, to avoid crowds of people and increase the Rapid Response Teams, with all the necessary means of protection in the health areas.
The health system established strict surveillance and control actions in social institutions (Elderly Homes, Psychopedagogical Center and Psychiatric Hospitals); the suspension of activities of grandparents' clubs in the clinics and visits to the Maternity Homes, among others, all aimed at the prevention and control of the disease.
The province reports 103 active outbreaks in 11 municipalities, with the highest incidence in the provincial capital, Gibara, Banes, Moa and “Urbano Noris”.
