Almost four decades of work by the Cuban machinery industry guarantee the quality and diversification of the 'Héroes del 26 de Julio' Agricultural Tools and Equipment Company, with the trademark Holmeca, located in the eastern province of Holguín.
Born as a result of collaboration with the Republic of Bulgaria in 1981, the facility has come a long way in meeting domestic needs, within a context marked by the tightened blockade of the United States against the island, which has impacted on the shortage of raw materials and prevented technological upgrading.
Even so, Holmeca has maintained a steady work rhythm and is currently divided into four Basic Business Units: the 'Héroes del 26 de Julio' agricultural tools and equipment factory, Machinery Productions, Electric Engines Tauba and another one dedicated to domestic Transportation.
The essential objective of meeting the demand of machinery for the agricultural sector and import replacements has allowed the company to strengthen ties with other Cuban industries and organizations, as well as with China.
Those links have produced machinery currently plowing sugar cane fields, harvesting and collecting rice; in addition to preparing the land for sowing stages all over the Caribbean country.
For 2021 they hope to increase their export markets, establish new collaboration contracts with foreign entities and offer some of its products on the Cuban foreign currency store network. /PL
