The university focused on the sustainable development of its environments, responsibilities and projections of the new scenarios will be the central theme of the X International Scientific Conference of the University of Holguín (UHo) that takes place virtually from April 26 to 30.

The event, organized by this center of higher studies every two years, aims to promote scientific and academic debate between researchers and professors linked to academic processes, socialize research results and promote inter-institutional cooperation and strategic management alliances.

The main research results of the Holguín University in prioritized sectors such as tourism, energy and the sugar agribusiness, as well as those related to local development, food production, demographic studies and confrontation to COVID-19, especially the experience from the psychological sciences, will be presented in nine symposia, workshops and conferences planned for the event.

This year’s edition foresees the signing of six agreements with entities and universities from four countries (Colombia, Mexico, Peru and the United States), which constitutes an important step in the visibility of the Holguín academic institution and the strengthening of international relations and areas of knowledge of foreign languages, education and sports, as well as computer science-mathematics.

Isabel Cristina Torres, rector of the Uho, noted the rigorous organization process demanded by the new scenario due to the complex epidemiological situation generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has imposed a greater effort to guarantee the quality of the event.

Oreste Coloma, Director of Informatization, said that six symposia will be held simultaneously with rotations depending on the volume of online presentations and the posters as discussion forums, moderated from the Oscar Lucero Moya headquarters and visible at eventos.uho.edu.cu and forums.uho.edu.cu, respectively.

To date, more than a thousand national and 120 foreign academics, scientists and researchers from 19 countries have confirmed their participation, including Ecuador, Canada, United States, France, Colombia, Mexico and China with the highest number of participants.
