Faced with the question of whether machines can think, journalists, communicators and government actors spoke about political communication, social networks and artificial intelligence during the Bloguerías de Mayo event, as of the activities for the Romerías de Mayo Festival taking place in Holguín.

The conference given by journalist Daylen Vega Muguercia, from the Ministry of Culture (Mincult), proposed to bring these issues to the current media scenario as a form of training and in order to shed light for greater use of the tools, since machines have demonstrated the ability to exchange and communicate successfully.

From the perspective that advances have led to the creation of new paradigms in the field of communication sciences, the specialist and analyst of social networks at the Mincult explained that the change in technologies implies a transformation in communication techniques.

In this sense, political communication on social networks must be done with direct, objective language, without triumphalism; focused on transmitting problem resolution and not promises, and based on audience segmentation, Vega Muguercia said.

She highlighted the need for the languages and support tools to resemble the characteristics of the channel through which the message will circulate, in addition to supporting a policy of transparency as one of the guarantees to achieve the trust of citizens.

Vega Muguercia demystified some issues related to artificial intelligence and its ability to automate repetitive tasks, process large amounts of data, personalize communication with customers and other actions.

The Alex Urquiola provincial library, permanent venue for the Bloguerías de Mayo, established itself as an ideal space for the clarification of ideas on new topics related to communication, especially in the virtual setting.

On the 30th anniversary of the largest event of the Hermanos Saíz Association, the Bloguerías de Mayo celebrated its 12th edition with the certainty "of saying with courage what others remain silent out of fear", and was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Cuban News Agency and the 25 years of the Round Table TV program.
