Holguín writer and journalist Rubén Rodríguez received a Mention at the 20th Julio Cortázar Ibero-American Short Story Prize 2022 for his book “Anatomía de la tempestad”, an honor that he deserves for the second time.

Rodríguez, also editor of the local newspaper ¡ahora!, where he has worked for more than three decades, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and feels motivated to continue sending his work to this prestigious contest and others such as the Casa de las Américas.

Author of an extensive work for children -with sagas such as "El Garrancho de Garabulla" and those of the character of Leidi Hamilton- and another narrative works for adults, Rubén has also won the Alejo Carpentier Award 2019, for his book " El año que nieve " .

The jury of the Ibero-American Short Story Prize in its 20th edition, made up of Oliverio Coelho, from Argentina, and María Elena Llana and Abel Prieto, from Cuba, highlighted the literary quality of the more than a thousand texts sent to the contest and agreed to deliver the highest award to the Colombian Laura Restrepo, "for exposing in a masterful way in her story ´Mangos´, the violence and cruelty that tragically mark our region".

They also awarded several mentions, among which is the one granted to the also Holguín and Casa de las Américas 2016 Award, Emerio Medina, for his text " Los cuervos vuelan al amanecer."
