The International Museum Day was celebrated today in Holguín with an artistic gala in the Bosque de los Heroes in the Sculpture Complex of the Revolution Plaza Mayor General Calixto Garcia Iñiguez.
Evelin Hernandez, director of the Provincial Center of Cultural Patrimony, emphasized that on this important day the main premise is to raise awareness about the relevance of museums as a means for cultural exchange and enrichment.
Throughout the year, activities are focused on promoting the wellbeing and sustainable development of communities, under the slogan "Museums, Sustainability and Wellbeing", for playing a decisive role in the development of neighborhoods through various programs.
As part of this gala were also recognized workers and institutions with outstanding work in the system of documentation and funds, conservation of objects and collections, and other general areas, among which stand out the Museum of Decorative Arts and Natural History of Gibara; the Municipal of Antilla, Casa Natal de Calixto Garcia, Museo Indocubano Bani and the Mausoleum Plaza de la Revolucion of Holguín.
The International Museum Day, established since 1977 and celebrated for the first time in 1987, offers museum professionals the opportunity to meet the public and make them aware of the challenges they face.
