Holguín mourns the death of soloist and composer William Cordero who died at the age of 81. He was one of the trainers of the new generations of musicians from this eastern territory, both in lyrical theater and popular music.
Among his songs stand out Como un cristal, Con la misma impaciencia and Nada destruirá esta unión. The Boleros de Oro 2023 festival was dedicated to more than 60 years of his musical work.
His quality as a singer and composer led him to share the stage with prominent Cuban artists such as Bola de Nieve, Rosita Fornés, Omara Portuondo, Luis Carbonell and Germán Pinelli.
Cordero was founder of the Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theater and made up the trio Los Viajeros, with which he recorded a 45 RPM album. Additionally, he led the Juan Marinello contingent for several years.
