Holguín to celebrate Cuban Culture Day with varied program

Dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of the writer Alejo Carpentier and to the work of art instructors as professionals, the Cuban Culture Day celebrations will take place in Holguín from October 10 to 20.

At press conference, Náyade Esmar García, deputy provincial director of the sector in Holguín, announced the inauguration of the event at the Alex Urquiola Provincial Library with the presence of all the performing arts companies.

The delivery of the Community Culture Award , the Iberoarte 2024 International Crafts Fair, the Festival of Amateur Artists, the celebrations for the 142nd anniversary of the Hermanos Avilés orchestra from Holguín and the event "For balance of the world", from the José Martí Cultural Society, are among the activities announced for the celebrations.

The Provincial Book Center will hold from October 14 to 18 panels dedicated to the figure of Alejo Carpentier in the Latin American context, in addition to the presentation of the book "The Lost Steps" and the tribute to 50 years of the novels " Baroque resource" and "The method resource".

Yurisel Moreno, director of the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts, commented that in the territory's gallery system, meetings will be held with different audiences to promote and highlight the work of visual artists, especially the figure of Choco on the occasion of his 75 years.

The agenda also includes the presentation of the companies Codanza and La Campana, the Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theater, the Holguín Symphony Orchestra and the José Martí Brigade of Art Instructors in various institutions.

The event will close on October 20 at the Bariay Club with the concert "Casa, cariño y ternura. Familia Pura", by singer-songwriter Lidis Lamorú with the presentation of her next album "Destino 610".

With an extensive program of activities that will include concerts, exhibitions and panels, the festival will pay tribute to October 20, 1868, the date in which the country's National Anthem was sung for the first time. (Source: ACN)
