The Cuadernos Papiro publishing house of Holguín, in eastern Cuba, participated from August 11 to 17 in the 21st edition of the International Book Fair at the Atlapa Convention Center in Panama City.
From the Cuban Book Chamber stand, the publisher presented iconic works from the publishing house, including the art book "Homeland," with illustrations by visual artist Emilio Leyva Azze. It brings together twenty-eight texts by Cuban authors inspired by the Homeland.
The art book, with 100 copies manufactured, is edited by Manuel Arias Silveira, director of the "Patria" publishing house, evoking the beloved Cuba of the sacred homeland. It is a tribute to the newspaper "Patria," founded by José Martí on March 14, 1892.
Writers from various nations attended the International Book Fair (FIL 2025), including Spaniards Francisco Pérez de Antón and Yolanda Castaño, and Mexicans Alma Delia Murillo, Sofía Segovia, and Gilraen Färfalas, as well as writers from Venezuela, Brazil, and Colombia, and thirty emerging Panamanian prose writers.
The event, dedicated to Morocco as the guest of honor, included
book presentations, debates, lectures, poetry, folklore, music, dance, theater, and film screenings.
Orit Btesh, president of the Panamanian Book Chamber and organizer of the event, highlighted the presence of more than 80 national writers, who shared their works and experiences with the public.
