"We not only want to provide young people with the tools for technology, but also for entrepreneurship, which is so important mainly in a city like this. We have to try this project, which consists of making our dreams a reality, grow inside the Film Festival ", said Jorge Perugorría in his closing speech at the Technology and Culture panel held in Gibara, as part of the activities of the Int’l Film Festival.
Filmmaker and musician Fermín Muguruza; Lucas Arzola, director of operations of the Parallel 18 project; Grettel Jiménez-Singer, Cubaness editor; Yondaine Gutierrez, designer of AlaMesa; Víctor López, with Remache Estudio; as well as musician and curator Adán Perugorría, representing the Taller Gorría Gallery project, in the town of San Isidro, centered the debates on how to take advantage of technologies for the benefit of culture and social development.

"Art and culture are linked to entrepreneurship. It was interesting that people could understand how to put those ideas into practice to find a business opportunity. Paralell 18 is an economic development program in Puerto Rico defined as an accelerator of technology companies. We are looking for entrepreneurs who have innovative business ideas.”
"We have been working for 3 and a half years and now have 3000 companies from more than 60 countries. We have an acceleration project focused on the Caribbean, in collaboration with Facebook, "said Lucas Arzola, who stressed the need and importance of this type of event.
For her part, Yondaine Gutiérrez expresed: "All businesses somehow begin solving a problem. AlaMesa was born in May 2011with a website with 20 restaurants, now we have more than 1200 throughout the country. We have been centered in disseminating the Cuban culinary culture through communication channels, mobile applications, bulletins and social networks. AlaMesa is totally free for users and for restaurants.”
We have created services that allow travelers who come to Cuba to reserve a table at a restaurant, send food at home, participate in a culinary experience. We are interested in all possible exchange that may happen at a table, " she added.
In order to promote the image and culture of the island, it was created Cubaness, today an audiovisual platform with an updated cultural calendar, which also has a website that allows access to restaurant recommendations, information on architecture, design and music, in its different sections.
On the other hand, Adán Perugorría talked about the acceptance by the people of his cultural project, which is not just a gallery, since they hold workshops ad concerts bringing art to the San Isidro Council of Havana, a community that appreciates this idea of turning these spaces into platforms to promote different ways of thinking about culture.
Muguruza spoke about the influence and contribution of the transmedia to the development of contemporary art and culture, and how to see that phenomena from the seventh art.
The day ended with an interactive fair of the video game project ConWiro created by REMACHEstudio, a group dedicated to audiovisual production, post-production work, graphic design and 3D techniques; and the experience of Newmen Studio, which develops artistic and audiovisual projects through collaborations and the use of new technologies.
