The company Monika Dance Ballet Español de Holguin performed the show “Perseverance and passion”, as part of the 2018-2019 edition of the Flamenco Amor workshop, aimed to train girls of 4 to 16 years old, who will make up the company.
Flamenco and ballet classes, castanets and physical training are some of the subjects taught by Monika Gonzalez Martinez, director of the project. As a novelty, this year it was decided to also create a special group with adults, for those who want to learn from these dance trends as hobby.

The show closed the activities for the celebration of the 20 anniversary of the Spanish Ballet of Holguin.
The program also included music for children and other genres such as alegrías, bulerías, rumba and tango, which denotes versatility in the proposals by these workshops.
"We not only have experienced good moments, we have also had to face many twists and turns, but nevertheless, we have risen, we have continued and we are here after 20 years of work," said Gonzalez, who thanked the authorities of the Party, the Government, the Hermanos Saíz Association and the Culture Center, as well as the Eddy Suñol theater workers for their warm welcome.

During the show, the most experienced dancers performed together with the smallest ones, achieving a balance and support among pieces welcomed by the public. However, more risk is needed in the choreographies, more expression in the body; communicate with the movement, beyond simplicity and repetition of steps. That would be one of the company’s challenges.
