Under the motto “For the unity of teachers,” the International Congress Pedagogía 2021 Congress began on February 1 in the virtual mode in a context marked by the complex epidemiological situation caused by COVID-19.
The development and challenges of education in the current circumstance and the experiences of teachers from Cuba and the world to give continuity to the educational process, as well as the assessment of the status of compliance with the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda, are among the topics for debate.
The Holguín delegation is composed of 35 teachers and four young people invited to the virtual event.
At the opening speech, Ena Elsa Velásquez Cobiella, Minister of Education in Cuba, noted the commitment of Cuban educators, who despite the economic shortages and adversities that the country is going through, guarantee the development of the teaching-learning process.
She addressed the use of technological resources used by the Ministry of Education to guarantee access to distance learning for all students and called for debate on the experiences of each nation to develop an increasingly inclusive, equitable and quality education.
In that regard, the minister ratified Cuba's will to revolutionize the means of teaching and explained the country's experience in maintaining teaching despite Covid-19, starting with televised lessons for the different educational levels and the creation of the CubaEduca website, with contents of the school curriculum.
Monday agenda included pre-event courses, while sessions continue on days 2 and 3 with the symposia for exchange and visualization of scientific practices that seek to develop an education of excellence.
