The unit two of the Lidio Ramón Pérez thermoelectric power plant, located in the municipality of Mayarí, in Holguín, was synchronized with the National Electroenergetic System (SEN) on Thursday afternoon, after five days of maintenance.
Engineer Euclides Rodríguez Mejías, technical director of the Power Plant, considered the largest generation in Cuba, said to the local newspaper ¡ahora! that the startup of the generating block will contribute about 160 Mw to the SEN.
He explained that the block went out of service in order to recover the efficiency and availability indicators, since it had large gas leaks that affected both the personnel who work there and the technology installed.
Similarly, an extensive maintenance process is carried out in the unit one of the Felton plant, currently going through a stage of checks and adjustments for its start-up, which it will produce 260MW.
Osmel Marturell Reyes, general director of the thermoelectric power plant, said that there is a consciousness of the responsibility assumed in the activity and its impact on the country's economy, as well as the inconveniences caused by the blackouts. The idea is to alleviate the situation through a stable generation with Cuban fuel, whose price is lower than diesel”.
