Education Minister evaluates preparations for new school year in Holguín

The Cuban Minister of Education, Naima Trujillo Barreto, visited the province of Holguín to check the preparations for the start of the 2024-2025 school year on September 2.
The minister was accompanied by the provincial director of Education, Luis Felipe Batista Rodríguez, and Joel Queipo Ruiz, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and First Secretary of the PCC in the province.
The head of the educational branch stressed that this new course has to be qualitatively superior based on the use of human resources, as well as the solutions that each territory implements to mitigate the difficulties.
She referred to the school uniform as one of the difficulties faced, due to not having the required availability to reach the total number of enrollments, which is why, in these cases, the use of appropriate clothing for attending school is authorized.
As for the basic study material, there are notebooks, pencils, chalk and some textbooks for the Third Improvement and the arrival of others is expected by the end of September, as well as workbooks.
Luis Felipe Batista Rodríguez, director of Education in the province, referred to the particularities of the territory, which for this school year has more than 3 thousand needs for teachers, so that the teaching coverage without alternatives is at 92 percent, to serve an enrollment of approximately 142 thousand students.
One of the greatest challenges for the stage is to ensure the efficiency in the training of teachers in pedagogical schools and the fulfillment of the admission to careers of this profile, currently at 70 percent.
In the province, work is also being done to guarantee the resources for supplies in internal institutions. With the support of the party and government bodies, the actions that remain to prepare for the beginning of the school year are specified.
